CUMMING - The same man who facilitated Vision 2030 for the chamber of commerce in Gainesville has been picked to do the same thing in Cumming.

Otis White will head Envision 2030 for the Cumming-Forsyth County area.

"The process will be similar to Vision 2030," he said, "We'll start by asking citizens to describe to us the kind of community they would like Cumming/Forsyth County to be in 2030. That's very much like what we did in Gainesville."

There are eight initial meetings scheduled for across the county starting next month that will create a common vision for the county.

"And then, starting in January, we're going to convene some planning groups around the major elements of the things that people told us," said White, They'll spend until late March or early April suggesting initiatives and projects that could make this a reality."

This is a citizen led planning effort and all Forsyth County residents are invited to attend the meetings and the planning groups.

Evening meetings, beginning at 6:45, include:

Tuesday, September 19 at Otwell Middle School

Tuesday, September 26 at Riverwatch Middle School

Tuesday, October 3 at South Forsyth Middle School

Thursday, October 5 at Vickery Creek Middle School

Tuesday, October 17 at Liberty Middle School

Tuesday, October 24 at North Forsyth Middle School

Thursday, November 2 at Chestatee Elementary School

In addition to these meetings, a morning meeting will take place on November 2 at Cumming First United Methodist Church, beginning at 8:15.
